Marie-Anne Bastin

Marie-Anne Bastin is one of the pioneers of mediation in Belgium and Europe, trained in Canada (notably under Serge Roy) since 1998 and in the United States, at the Harvard and Gary Friedman schools.

She is an accredited mediator in civil, commercial and labour matters, specialising in the prevention, management and resolution of disputes between and within companies, as well as property and private disputes, including international disputes.

She is a lecturer in commercial and civil mediation at bMediation and in social mediation at MCSociale since over 20 years.

Her experience as a mediator frequently leads her to speak or teach in Belgium and abroad, and she was actively involved in the preparatory work for the European directive on mediation and Belgian legislation. She was in charge of a consultancy mission in Tunisia as part of the European programme to assist with the reform of the justice system, and works with a number of Belgian and foreign institutes. She was one of the founders of the World Forum of Mediation Centres and is a former chairman of the Conflict Prevention and Mediation Commission of the Union Internationale des Avocats.

Her recognised practice has led her to become a member of the Belgian Federal Mediation Commission and the mediation commissions of the OBFG and the Brussels Bar. She is a director of the not-for-profit organisation "MC Sociale", and Ombudsman for the French and German-speaking Bar Association (OBFG).

She speaks fluently French and English and is a member of the Brussels Bar.
